Not had any posts on here for a while so thought we best keep you all updated.

One job we did last week was to supply and install 3 electric velux roof windows (electric velux roof windows). All 3 windows were all to be installed well out of reach and required to be operated by remote. Velux electric range of roof windows offer remote control operated opening and closing and also remote operating of the blinds or shutters. Each window come complete with a remote but each remote can control upto 3 windows and 3 sets of blinds. So all 3 windows that were to be installed were all controlled via a single remote.
Installation was restively straight for as ever and also very quick. The customer opted for internally white plastic finished windows rather than the usual pine finish. These are slightly more expensive than the common pine finish but this extra more than outweighs the time painting the pine.if your interested in velux roof windows then please contact Mbuild for a supply and fit service. We also own all of our own scaffold and access equipment which also keeps install
Costs down.
Check out the velux roof window website for there huge range of windows and bear in mind we can beat the official rrp prices on the velux website.

Gaydon, warwickshire.

Below are a few pictures of the cement fibre board fascis and soffits.
The fibre cement board is a product from Marley. It’s actual name is Marley cedral weatherboard. It comes pre painted and is available in 23 colours. It is also available non coloured for painting on site. The colour we are using is called ‘C08 sand yellow’. its cement based with a wood/timber print on the face to give the real wood effect and it works well, unlike some upvc products with a real wood effect print face which are just not convincing. Being cement based its very hard wearing and is designed as a low maintenace, fit and forget product. unlike real wood there is no rot and also due to being factory painted there is also no yearly sanding snd staining that you get wit real wood. To show just how maintenance free this weatherboard is we have attached a few photos. below is the same Marley cladding that was installed back in 2009, so over 5 years old. This has never been cleaned, painted or washed in 5 years and I can honestly say it looks as good as the new stock we have on site.
The fitting and install of the product is straight forward job for most tradesmen with the correct tools and knowledge. As cement fibre is now becoming a more popular product there an now specific blades being designed with this in mind. Although not cheap they do the job well. We are currently using a purpose made blade from makita which we will review in full once all the cutting has been done but so far it performs well producing a nice clean cut.
To aid fitting there is a variety of trims for all corners and joins that are available in matching colours. We will be making a start in the install of the cladding later this week so check back then for lots more photos.

The first 2 photos are of the 5 year old cladding.

Day 2 at gaydon, Warwickshire.
Another horrible day! Today was not the best day to start the roof demolition but we are on a strict deadline for Monday when the 40 ton crane will be on site so the timber work can start. We started by removing all slates and lath. We then peeled back the felt to reveal another roof covering. So it had been re-roofed at some Point but rather than replacing they had counter lathed it and the started fresh on top of the original roof. The second and original Covering was constructed from compressed straw panels topped with 5 layers of hot felt and then 10mm shingle. I can honestly I’ve not come across the straw panels before and what a pig they are to remove.
The image below shows the second roof covering, after we had removed the slates. Here there 2 lads are stripping away the layers of felt so we can get at the straw panels. Not a great day but we did well Considering the non stop rain. Hopefully tomorrow will bring sunshine!

This is our current site. Situated on the Kineton rd in gaydon, warwickshire.
This is a bungalow that will be having a second story added to it. This will be constructed from insulated timber panel and frame work. We have already demolished and reconfigured the ground floor layout and are now ready to removed the roof covering and install the new wall plate ready for the timber frame work to start on Monday 03.06.13. Let’s just hope the weather improves!
